Today (7-14-09) a group from First Baptist Church of Oak Grove visited Leeds Stained Glass Company in Pell City. Everyone very much enjoyed seeing the eight new church windows being built for their sanctuary. They met with Mr. Terry Barnes who is designing & overseeing the making of the windows. He & his 2 workers explained & showed the group the many steps it takes to complete each one. It was all very interesting & informative.
Each piece of glass is individualy cut & each scene is hand painted. The group observed how each small piece of glass is added to the design. The light behind a window makes a total difference in the look of the glass.
Mr. Barnes's construction building was so nice, cool, neat & organized. All 3 of the employees spent a good bit of time with the visiting group.
Everyone came away excited to know that the sanctuary is indeed going to be a beautiful place for worship. The colors, scene medallions & Bible verses in each window will add to the meaning & reverence of the building inside & out. The plans are to install the new windows & baptistry in a few weeks.
